City of Boise 8th Street Bridge Deck Replacement

By

Constructed in 1911 for $31,000, the 8th Street bridge has provided access to downtown Boise for more than 100 years. The bridge was retired from vehicle use in the mid-1980s, the deficient bridge deck was replaced with a wood plank deck, and the bridge was given to the City of Boise for use as a pedestrian bridge.

Working with Boise Parks and Recreation, River Structures designed a new lightweight concrete deck to replace the wood deck, providing an improved walking/riding surface and better access for users with disabilities.
